Gathered under the "B-Woman" VIP Project, the group has made a series of podcasts with professionals from various areas, with the aim of knowing their stories and motivating auditors. Thus, this coming Tuesday 29, at 11:00 hours, the guest will be the Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Dr. Carolina Torrealba, who will answer the questions of the students and the general public live. "The podcasts are born from the multiple questions asked by school children when we showed a video about healthy aging. The questions were not focused on the video itself but on the lives of scientists. "This is how Dr. Paola Murgas, a researcher at the Center for Integrative Biology, recalls when she details the beginning of the VIP Project" B-WOMAN PODCAST".
“We wanted to do a job in which women scientists from different areas talk about their lives and how they develop in their work, so that auditors are motivated to study whatever it is and to change their vision towards science and those of us who do science. ”, Adds Dr. Murgas, who details that currently the group is made up of the students Paulina Díaz and Gabriela Vidal of Medicine; Valentina Isamit, Catalina Valladares, Javiera Lara, Josefina Miranda, Catalina Guerra and Romina Madrid from Biotechnology; Margarita Martín, Camila Ravet and Thiare Cea from Tecnología Médica; María Ignacia Yasky of Geology; Paula Vives from Occupational Therapy, and Josefa Holloway from Engineering in Environment and Sustainability".
Thus, this coming Tuesday, June 29, at 11:00 am, the team will launch the online magazine "B-Woman Podcast", which will be attended by the Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Dr. Carolina Torrealba, who will answer live the questions of some members of the project, along with others from the audience.

The B-Woman team
Paulina Díaz decided to join this project because it was a field that interested her, she wanted to work as a team and also spread science in a different way. “We started in 2019 thinking about doing theater, but that idea was mutating until we reached podcasts. And we created a group of strong women, led by strong women too, ”she says.
Meanwhile, Catalina Guerra comments: "I decided to join the initiative because I fell in love with the proposal to generate content about how the experiences of women in science in Chile have been, and thus share it with the community and deliver a positive motivational message to women. girls and adolescents to become interested in STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). In addition, participating in this project meant for me and for my classmates to leave the comfort zone".
Camila Ravet is one of the students who leads the project and says that one of the inspirations was the award for the 100 women leaders of 2020. It was then that they wanted to focus the work on a “more psychological or emotional aspect of the person, asking about of the effort, experiences or obstacles they had to face in order for them to become who they are today. Our goal and our target is to inspire younger generations, perhaps fourth year students, to always pursue their dreams and not be guided by what they will say. Finally, inspire them to be better every day".
They have worked together for several years and have applied for various funding awards, among them they were selected in the PAR Explora de Los Lagos project last year. They also participated on behalf of the U. Mayor in the international meeting of VIP Projects.
"Our future goal is to generate a change in people's mentality, at least partial, with respect to the participation of women in all areas, perhaps at some point we would love to cover more than just science, to always highlight the participation of us and show how important we are for the development of society ”, concludes Camila Ravet.
