Mayor U. rises 29 places in the 2020 Research Quality ranking of La Tercera and is ranked 9

Our house of studies managed to position itself within the top 10 of Chilean universities in the area: “We are very happy with the result. In recent years we have opted not only to deliver knowledge, but also to generate it ”, declared the Rector, Rubén Covarrubias Giordano.
As a reflection of the work that has been carried out in pursuit of academic excellence, the Mayor University made a significant leap in the 2020 Ranking of Universities prepared by La Tercera, going from 25th place in the 2019 measurement, to 18th place, within out of a total of 42 Higher Education institutions evaluated.
Likewise, our house of studies obtained an outstanding result in the area of Research, a dimension in which it climbed from place 38 to 9, thus positioning itself within the top 10 of Chilean universities.
For the Rector, Rubén Covarrubias Giordano, this result “shows that, despite the tremendous challenges that the pandemic has imposed, as a Mayor University we are doing things well, we are on the right path, and all the efforts that as a university community we have made they are bearing fruit today ”.
“Furthermore, we are very happy to be recognized as one of the leading institutions in the area of Research in Chile. In recent years we have opted not only to deliver knowledge, but also to generate it, in order to contribute to the development of the country from the side of the Sciences, the Arts and the Humanities, and this has been demonstrated in this measurement ", added the authority.
In this sense, Dr. Manque remarked that “the University and its Vice-rector for Research developed a strong strategic plan for the research area that sought to focus on two major areas: developing interdisciplinarity in research and also strengthening research in strategic areas to the scientific, social and economic development of the country ”.
According to the ranking, published this Saturday, December 19, our campus obtained a weighted index of 66.49, which was calculated from aspects evaluated such as perception of quality, management, academics, students and research.
Meanwhile, in the ranking of perception of quality by career, the measurement highlighted the School of Dentistry of the U. Mayor, which reached eighth place, while the School of Medicine, reached tenth place.
